The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a global leader in innovation. For its campus landscapes, the university required a material reflecting its high standards while enduring a subtropical climate and heavy foot traffic. The solution was the premium ceramic collection Altra Pietra from STONE NV.

Altra Pietra is a private label specifically engineered for high-end outdoor applications. Inspired by natural stone and manufactured in Italy, it combines aesthetic elegance with superior technical performance. For HKUST, three color variants were selected: Colosseo Basalt Grau, Fortezza Diorite, and Fortezza Montorfano. This palette created a dynamic, modern floor design that integrates seamlessly with the campus architecture.

A decisive factor was the collection's versatility in sizes and thicknesses, making it ideal for the contract market. Technically, Altra Pietra is invaluable in Hong Kong's humid environment: it is frost-resistant, has very low porosity, and resists UV radiation and algae growth. By combining Italian craftsmanship with functional stability, STONE NV transformed the campus into a durable, sophisticated landscape.
